Magnetic Privacy Policy

Magnetic helps you understand and improve your dating conversations. This
policy explains what the app handles and what happens to it. It is written
to be read, not skimmed past.
Who we are
Magnetic is run by Magnetic Matrix LLC, 1209 Mountain Road Pl NE, Ste N,
Albuquerque, NM 87110, United States. We decide how the information
described here is used, and we answer for it. Write to us at
No account, no identity
Magnetic has no sign-up and no login. The app generates an anonymous random
identifier on your device so the service can remember your connections
between sessions and apply fair-use limits. That identifier is not your
name, email, phone number, or Apple ID, and we cannot link it to you.
What you give the app
- Conversations you paste or type
- Screenshots you choose from your photo library
- Situations you describe in your own words
- Facts you confirm (for example, that you have met in person)
- Your own dating profile, if you ask Magnetic to review it
- Your answers to the first questions — where your dating is, where it falls apart, what you want from Magnetic, and how you heard about it. They are taps from fixed lists, never your own words, and they are never sent to an AI provider. Your monthly performance review uses them, and Delete everything erases them.
This content is sent to our server to produce your reads and suggested
messages. Our server uses AI providers to turn screenshots into text and to
draft messages: DeepInfra, Anthropic and OpenAI, depending on the task.
Each provider processes it only to generate the response, and none of them
uses it to train models. DeepInfra processes it in memory and does not store
it. Anthropic and OpenAI may retain API content for up to 30 days for abuse
monitoring, unless a different retention control or a legal obligation
applies. Your content is stored with your anonymous identifier so the app
can remember each connection's history.
Your profile review
When you ask Magnetic to review your own dating profile, the screenshots
and any text you paste are sent to our server and to the AI provider to
produce the review. The screenshots themselves are not kept.
What is kept is the review — what is working, the one change, the line it
suggested — and the facts you wrote about yourself in your bio and prompts,
such as your job or what you do on weekends. Those facts are only what you
wrote, never anything guessed from a photo. They are stored with your
anonymous identifier for two reasons: your monthly performance review
measures against your first one, and suggested messages can mention things
that are true about you instead of inventing them. Delete everything erases
every review you have run.
How Magnetic learns — anonymous counts, never words
Magnetic gets better with use, across everyone who uses it, and it does so
from **anonymous, aggregated counts only — never from the words of any
message**. Three kinds of count are kept:
- The shape of a message you send — for example: it ended in a question, it named a day, it was short — drawn from a fixed list, and whether a reply came back.
- How the conversation went afterwards — whether it kept going, whether a day got named, whether a date happened — as yes/no facts, so Magnetic can check whether its own reads were right.
- Which suggestion you chose to send, so Magnetic can see which kinds of suggestion men actually use.
Each count is combined with everyone else's into totals with no identifier
attached — not your anonymous identifier, not hers, not any name. The text
of your messages is never part of any total and cannot be recovered from
one. Because these totals are anonymous and combined, they are not
personal data: they cannot be traced back to you, and deleting a connection
removes everything about it but does not un-combine a total it already
contributed one count to.
Before the first thing you send — a screenshot of your matches, a
conversation, or your own profile — Magnetic asks for permission to send it
to these providers. Nothing is sent before that permission is given, and
Delete everything withdraws it: nothing is sent again until you give it
again.
Where it is processed
Our server runs in the United States. If you use Magnetic from outside the
United States, what you send is processed there, by us and by the AI
providers named above.
Why we use it
We use what you send for one reason: to give you the reads, suggestions and
reviews you ask for. Sending it to an AI provider happens only with the
permission described above. The anonymous counts in the next section exist
to make those results better for everyone.
What we do NOT do
- No advertising and no ad networks
- No tracking across apps or websites, and no tracking SDKs
- No analytics SDKs
- No selling of your content, and no sharing of it with anyone except the AI providers that generate your results
- No access to your photo library beyond the images you explicitly select
The person on the other side
A dating conversation has two people in it, and only one of them chose to
use Magnetic. We take that seriously, because nobody else in this category
seems to.
Her messages reach us only inside the conversation you choose to send, and
they are used for one thing: producing your read and your suggested
message. We do not build a profile of her, we do not sell or share anything
about her, we do not look her up anywhere, and we have no way to contact
her — Magnetic has no access to any dating app, no address book, and no
network of any kind. She is a name you typed and words you already
received. Delete the connection and everything of hers goes with it, from
your phone and from our server.
If you screenshot your matches list, each name on it becomes a card on your
board under exactly these rules: a name, and whether a conversation exists,
and nothing else. Nobody on that list is looked up, profiled, or contacted,
and each card can be deleted the same way.
Use Magnetic only for conversations you are part of, and never for a
conversation with a minor.
Faces: what we do and what we never do
When you add screenshots — a conversation, a profile, or your matches
list — Magnetic looks for a face so it can crop a picture for her card. That happens entirely on your phone, using Apple's
on-device Vision framework, and it is face detection — finding where a
face sits in an image — never face recognition. Magnetic does not compute,
store, or transmit a faceprint, face geometry, or any other biometric
identifier, and it cannot identify anyone.
The cropped picture is stored on your device only. It is never uploaded to
our server and never sent to any AI provider; there is no field for it
anywhere in our API. Remove or replace it any time from her memory sheet.
We do not sell or share your data
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for
cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in
California law. There is no advertising in Magnetic and no ad networks in
it. No third party receives your content except the AI providers named
above, who process it only to produce your result.
How long we keep it
We keep what you give us for as long as you keep the connection it belongs
to. There is no timed expiry, because an app whose promise is that it
remembers cannot quietly forget — so the clock is yours, not ours: a
connection lives until you delete it.
Delete a connection and its messages, facts and history are erased from
your device and from our server. Delete everything, from You → Delete
everything, and every connection goes at once along with the anonymous
identifier itself — the app starts again as if it had just been installed.
Delete the app and the identifier is gone from your device; write to us and
anything still filed under it is erased too.
Usage records are counts with no content in them — that a read happened,
never what it said — and cannot be traced to you or to anyone you talk
about. Those are kept as long as the service runs.
Deletion
Deleting a connection inside the app permanently erases that connection's
messages, facts, and history from your device, and from our server when the
connection has ever reached it.
Delete everything is on the You tab, at the bottom under Legal. It
erases every connection you have, everything derived from them, and your
subscription record on our server, and then throws away the anonymous
identifier that pointed at all of it — so what is left cannot be connected
back to you even by us. Your drafts, your review history, your profile
reviews and every scheduled reminder go with it. It cannot be undone.
Two things it deliberately does not touch. Your App Store subscription is
Apple's, not ours: cancel or manage it in your iPhone's Settings, and a
purchase you have already made restores from the App Store at any time.
And the usage counts described above — that a read happened, never what it
said — are filed under a one-way hash and are not reachable from your
identifier, so there is nothing there to point back at you.
There is no residual account to close, because there is no account.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can stop at any time, delete a connection, or delete
everything, from inside the app. Depending on where you live — for example
the European Union, the United Kingdom or California — the law also gives
you the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected or
erased, to receive a copy, and to object to how it is used. Write to
[email protected] and we will answer within the time the law
allows. We will never treat you differently for asking.
One thing is worth knowing before you write. Because Magnetic has no
account and nothing that identifies you, an email or a name does not lead
us to your data. The controls inside the app are the reliable way to reach
it, and we will tell you plainly if a request is one we cannot match to
anything. If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom you may
also complain to your local data protection authority.
Notifications
Reminders about your matches — that she may have replied, that a plan's
date has passed, that a thread has gone quiet — are scheduled on your
phone, from information already on it. There is no push server: nothing
about your notifications leaves the device, and turning them off changes
nothing else about the service.
Payments
Magnetic+ is billed by Apple through your Apple Account. We never see your
payment details.
Age
Magnetic is for adults. The App Store listing carries a 17+ rating.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with
a new date.
